Easter At Snowbird

We had a fun but different Easter this year in all the beautiful snow up at Snowbird. I was just happy to go somewhere, of course the sunshine would've been wonderful but Snowbird is always fun and beautiful sun or snow, and we sure did get a lot of snow up there! Luckily we came home before they closed the canyon for a day and a half. My sister Cami and her family got stuck up there for an extra day! We always enjoy spending time with family, my kids cannot get enough of their cousins, they were in heaven for three days!

Easter morning with their baskets. Charlie is now obsessed with monster trucks. He didn't go anywhere without that thing for the first week or so, it's worn off a bit now, plus it's on the edge of breaking of course so he's saving up his money for a new one and is constantly asking to watch monster trucks on the computer that Mark found on You Tube.

Kenya LOVED this piggy bank. She played with it straight for the first 24 hours she had it, wanted to sleep with it and everything. When we were packing up to leave I couldn't find the piggy bank and trying to ask a two year old where she put it does not work well. I seriously looked for that thing for a good hour. Just as we were about to leave I did one last search with Charlie, he found it on top of a bunk bed and she was so excited, immediately following the excitement was a fit because I told her we couldn't watch The Princess and the Frog on the way home. I was prepared to let her throw her fit stood up to walk away when I hear a big crash on the tile. She had dropped the piggy bank that had been in her possession again for a total of 30 seconds and shattered it which of course resulted in more tears and sadness. I ended up getting her a new one a couple weeks later and it has not left her dresser for fear of breaking it again, so I guess lesson learned!

Eating her eggy.

Snowbird put on a fun Easter egg hunt Sunday morning on their bunny hill. We got their just as they let the kids loose. Instead of heading for the eggs Kenya headed straight for the Easter Bunny who grabbed her and led her in the direction of the eggs. She still was more excited for the Easter Bunny though.

That genuinely happy smile when my kids see characters is what keeps us going back to Disneyland! I love how excited they get at this age to see a character, whether it's Mickey Mouse or the Easter Bunny.

Notice Kenya, she just can't take her eyes off of that bunny!

My sister Cami's girls Sailor and Kaia.

It was such a beautiful day with fresh snow and the sun shining.

They got a ton of eggs at the hunt, went back and opened up every single one.

Charlie got to take a ski lesson the next day, he wanted to snowboard but they won't do lessons for that until they're seven, luckily he was happy to take a ski lesson too. Unfortunately when we walked over to watch him ski at the end of the day they had gone inside because it was thundering so we didn't get to check out his new skills but his teacher said he did great and that he was a really good listener, yay Charlie!

It was a great weekend, especially being able to listen to conference and I must say how proud I am of Mark who chose to forgo snowboarding in the beautiful powder to listen to conference. I didn't have much of a choice being pregnant but he did. What an example, or maybe he's just crazy. :)

Almost 26 weeks :)

I am embarrassed for myself that I am posting these pictures but I've always documented my pregnancies so I shouldn't make an exception to this one even though I am enormous already! As I mentioned before my doctor said I was measuring big, no surprise since I feel so big, I had my ultrasound last week and the baby is about 10% bigger than average, no extra fluid, everything looks good other than I've got a big baby in my belly. I keep hoping I went through a growth spurt earlier than I normally do and I'll stop growing so rapidly but it's not happening! And yes I'm in my comfy pants for the night, I don't make it past 5:00 without changing these days.

I'm going to start needing some sort of support to hold this belly up!

Happy Spring!

What a beautiful Sunday we had yesterday! Yay for 60 degrees! Yay for spring! I know there's a storm coming but I can handle it as long as we get some days like this one. The kids wore their new Easter outfits to church and after we decided to head out to Temple Square to beat the rush of next weekend.

Ahh...pictures are so depressing when you're pregnant! Did I mention I'm measuring big?! As if you couldn't tell. I have an ultrasound in a couple days to make sure everything is okay. I think I'm just big. I tend to stick out A LOT and it's only going to get worse!

This was their first time in the visitors center. Kenya was actually a bit scared of the big statue but she eventually got the courage to go stand by it. Charlie really took it all in, asking a lot of questions. It was great. He's been asking for his own scriptures since seeing his cousins get baptized and going to Temple Square. I told him we could tell the Easter Bunny that's what he wants. He doesn't want to wait though...

Look who's in a big girl bed! Yep it's still on the floor, probably will be for a while knowing me but she loves it and is doing really well in it. We've still got the crib in there until we clear out and paint the baby's room. It works well as a threat and so far we've only had to use it once. :)

Green Day

In the past I haven't really done much for St. Patrick's day. In fact last year I completely forgot about it, luckily Charlie happened to wear a green shirt to preschool that day! It dawned on me a couple nights before when Charlie kept talking about Leprechauns that he might have some expectations for the day of green. Really his only expectation was to catch a Leprechaun (this is mainly my fault for buying him a book "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day" where the kids set up traps for the leprechauns) but I told him that if you put out your shoes the leprechauns might leave you a little something. So he did just that, along with setting up some traps for them in the playroom. When he woke up and went outside to look for his shoes they were gone! Those tricky leprechauns stashed them in a different place for him to find, they also put army guys and cars in his traps. He got a kick out of it, sneaky little guys!

Lucky Charms, green gum, 4 quarters, and a candy bar made these two pretty happy.

We had a delicious green breakfast and the kids ate it up. Green pancakes, green eggs, and a green smoothie (the eggs and smoothie were colored with SPINACH and my kids never thought twice about gobbling them up! I love sneaking veggies into my kids food.)

I made green bread for their sandwiches and to wash it down, some green milk.

Silly girl

To top off the evening we went to my nieces Kaia and Harper's birthday bash. The were both born on the same day which happens to be St. Paddy's Day. 8 years old, I can't believe I'm the person saying to them "I remember the day you were born!" These two were 3 months old when Mark and I got married. Crazy, crazy.

We had a fun green day, I think I like St. Patrick's Day, after all green is my favorite color!

Fire Station

Charlie had a trip to the fire station again this year. Kenya was much more manageable this time around, they both really enjoyed it. Hopefully she won't be sick of it by the time it's "her" field trip since she's already been twice! Charlie now says he wants to be a fireman when he grows up. He insisted on taking a pic in front of this fire engine so his dad could see it.
Lovin Kenya's faces in pictures lately.

Happenings

Charlie had a little Tea Party at his preschool that he was suppose to get all dressed up for. They also got to choose a bear to bring as their guest. He was pretty excited and looked so grown up in a little kids sort of way.

Kenya is loving dance. When I ask her to show me what she learned in dance she always does this and says it's her "sunshine" and she walks on her tip toes and points her foot out and brings it back in. She is just so cute. The patch is back as you can see. The doctor says let's try it again for a couple months to see if we can strengthen her eye back up. Surgery is a very likely possibility again but we'll see. She's doing much better at keeping it on this time around.

I was proud of her cute little hair do that I learned to do here. I may be a hair stylist but I'm not very good at doing my little girls hair. Plus this lasted maybe two hours before I had to redo it!
Kenya started riding her bike that she got for Christmas and she loves it! She just goes back and forth up and down the street. it's great, the smile on her face the first day she rode it was priceless, she was so proud of herself.

My kids have been little helpers quite often lately. Charlie loves putting Kenya down for her naps. He'll read her a book and sing her a song. It's quite sweet. Here he is singing to her. Sometimes she likes him to sometimes she doesn't. On this day she requested Charlie, I was not going to object. He also helped us clean up the kitchen last night, after the dishes were done he said "now I'm going to clean the whole house!"
You may remember this post a little over a year ago about how hard it was to get housework done around here. Now Kenya is a great little helper, if I give her a wet rag she is quite entertained and loves to help me clean. It's great. I hope these kids continue in their helping ways when this baby gets here!
