Easter Sunday
Our Easter Sunday was a bit hectic too. I think next year we might switch things around so that we do the Easter Bunny stuff on Saturday so we can focus on the spiritual aspect of Easter more on Sunday. I feel our kids missed the point this year, yes they're young but I felt like I was so focused on the Easter Bunny this year too that I missed the point. Thankfully I got to listen to some great talks and lessons on Sunday that helped fill my spiritual cup but Mark and I just felt like we didn't do a great job this year on that part. We had FHE tonight on the atonement and resurrection so that helped too but next year I think we'll try and focus more on Christ and not the Easter Bunny. That being said it was still a nice Easter. The kids were excited to see what the Easter Bunny left and find their eggs. Kenya got a new hooded towel, princess Tiana little doll stuff and a kite. Charlie got a new monster truck that does tricks, a new piggy bank, and a kite. And they all got new Easter outfits. The kids had SO much candy from their egg hunts that I didn't really give them any candy, I mostly put coins in their hidden eggs. I recorded this year which means there are no pictures of that, whoops! We all enjoyed much needed naps in the afternoon and went to my dad's for dinner that night.

Easter Fun
We had a busy, fun weekend. We started Saturday morning out at our annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Lots and lots of kids but this year the Easter Bunny made a special appearance. Kenya loved him, she was the first one to see him hopping over and gave him a hug. After all the kids had their hugs with him Charlie, Kenya, and a little group of girls wouldn't leave him alone. They were hopping with him, hugging him, laughing, (annoying him I'm sure.) Finally he was saved from an adult and started hopping away. Charlie ran after him and all the other kids followed him, poor bunny. He finally got away though.

Tough Boy
Here's my tough boy with his broken arm. We went into the doctor on Thursday hoping to get his hard cast on but Dr. Hess said that the bones were bent up with the way he broke it so he wanted to straighten it out. He said it would hurt but that he would try and numb it and that would hurt. He also said he didn't have to try and straighten it out, since he's young it might heal okay but he would like straighten it out. I told him "he's tough, let's do it." They stuck a big needle in to numb it, Charlie didn't even flinch, just watched him do it. Then they came back after a few minutes, took hold of his arm and pulled it straight. I heard a "crunch" sound, made me shudder, Charlie again didn't even flinch. The doctors were amazed, saying "who is this kid? That almost made me want to cry!"
When we got home it was starting to hurt him so I gave him some loritab. I kept him home from school because I figured it would make him sleepy. Not this kid. Any "sleepy" medicine seems to have the opposite effect on him, daren't. He gets a hard cast on in a couple days and will need that for 4 weeks.
I thought I should do a little update on him too. He is loving Kindergarten and is doing really well in his class. My preschool fears of him not behaving have gone away. His teacher told me sometimes he doesn't know when to stop being "silly" but that's about the only negative thing she has to say about him. Yay! He definitely likes to make people laugh, or likes the attention he gets when he's goofing off so I can understand where she's coming from on that. He's loving Spanish and learning it really well. These days he's a little obsessed with playing football on the playstation. He's learned all about football since, it's crazy how he knows everything now. More than me that's for sure! He'll still take a nap once or twice a week and still rises early in the morning. He'll usually stay in his room until 7 and read so that's nice at least. He is a good kid, I am so proud of the boy he's turning into. We have a 17 year old neighbor boy that does yard work for us once in awhile and Charlie idolizes him. He'll go out and talk to him the whole time he's here! Cooper thinks he's a little stud and Charlie can't stop talking about Cooper this and Cooper that and when I'm this old, how old will Cooper be? It's cute. He is growing up and I want to keep him little and innocent but I just can't. :(

Kinderhaus, Fun Weekend...Sad Ending.
We went up to snowbird a couple weekends ago. The snow was great, literally snowed all weekend. Charlie learned to snowboard this year. He took a couple lessons at Park City so he was anxious to get out. He stayed on chickadee and was doing great. He went Friday, Saturday, and Monday morning before we left. He found a little jump through some trees that he was having a lot of fun going off of. Mark and I left him with Cami and Jared and his cousins on Monday while we went to pack up. I got a call from Jared a little while later saying "Charlie took a bad fall trying to go off the jump. Cami's helping him right now but you may want to come down and get him." Mark ran down there and took him to the clinic. Sure enough he broke his wrist in two places. The put it in a splint and told us to go to an orthopedic surgeon because it might need to be reduced with the way it was broken. What a bummer ending to a fun trip, but at least it was at the end, right? We are mostly sad that he can't play baseball this spring. He was really looking forward to it.

I was amazed at how good he was doing. After he took his lesson I asked him if he like snowboarding better than skiing. He said "Snowboarding! I never want to ski again!"

Rich took Kenya on some really big skis. She loved it! I was feeling guilty I didn't have her ski this year. She'll be excited to do it next year.

Kenya
This little girl is keeping me on my toes! Three has come with an attitude but her cute little face always gets us at the end of the day. Kenya is loving preschool this year and is getting pretty good at her letters, writing, recognizing, and sounds. She is in the stage where potty words are really funny (this is a stage right, it's not just my kid?) She's still trying to figure out how to use he, she, her, him. For instance she'll say about Leila "Her is watching that." or "He likes that." We're working on it. She has very mature 3 year olds all around her (Knox, Greta, friend Brighton) so I feel like she's behind but I think, or I hope the others are just ahead. I'll just enjoy her little three year old isms as long as I can. She loves helping me with dinner and "skirring" things (stirring.) She also loves when Mark makes macon (bacon.) She comes in our bedroom most mornings lately and snuggles right up to me. She doesn't want to go to Mark usually, she just cuddles up right into my arms. If I move, she moves with me. I'll enjoy that while I can too. She loves playing with her friends but is still content playing with herself. I love listening to her play with her friends though. Their imagination is so great and it's fun to hear them acting like mom's or sisters or princesses. Little girls play much better, or maybe quieter than little boys. :)
She had a field trip to the grocery store and a Princess day at preschool this month.

9 months
Oh this little cutie is still putting a smile on my face every day! Here's what she's been up to this month...

50% in height and weight (18 lbs)
Still doesn't roll. The doctor was a little concerned about this, I think she's just content.
Get's up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth or pushes herself backwards.
Trying to pull up, hasn't quite mastered it by herself.
Sleeps about 12 hours at night, takes 2 naps, about 2 hours each.
Half the time I don't know when she wakes up because she will find her binky, put it in, and just hang out in her crib.
Is completely done nursing, bittersweet.
Has 3 teeth on the bottom.
Will fall asleep in my arms at church (this RARELY happened with my other two.)
Will sit on my lap at church, or wherever and be content playing with toys. (Again Rarely with my other two.)
Sits on the ground and plays with toys, my other two just zoomed past this phase, it was like once they were sitting they were crawling and everywhere. I love it!
