Finally Five!

Kenya has been asking and asking "when is it gonna be my birthday?" for months and months.  She has watched almost every friend turn five and would almost get upset that she was not five and that their birthday was before hers.  A couple days after her birthday she asked me "when is my birthday again?"  I said "May 25th."  She said "not again!"  Like she thought it changed every year, it cracked me up.  She does not like being the youngest, sorry sweetie!  I tried to explain to her that eventually she would like being the youngest, like when all her friends turn 30 and she's still 29. :)

She had a family party this year but I let her pick a few friends to take to "Get Air" the trampoline park.  It was suppose to be a couple but it's hard to narrow it down so it turned into four.  We drove out the Get Air to find that it didn't open until 2:00, it was 1:00.  Kenya was a little disappointed but quickly got over it when everyone seemed just as excited to go to Boondocks instead.

Love this picture!  Brighton, Kenya, Leila, Kiley, Greta, Brooklyn.

When I asked her a couple weeks back what kind of cake she wanted said a unicorn cake with a rainbow and drew me a picture.  She was pretty excited about the outcome.  I was excited that it was a less involved cake and pretty simple.

The three stooges Leila, Scarlett, and Emerson

She got a new scooter!

She loves getting cards...

I love this sweet girl so much.  She has always been our little snuggler, we love it.  She comes into our room some mornings and sneaks right into the bed cuddling right up.  It's hard to not let her stay.  She is my helper, she loves helping me cook and still says "skir" for "stir".  She is a good big sister to Leila, and loves to take care of her, even if Leila doesn't always love it.  She is reading pretty well, she wants to memorize all the words instead of sound them all out.  I think that's more how I learned to read, I don't remember sounding words out much, she likes doing flash cards more than reading books but she is so excited for kindergarten and to learn spanish.  I am sad she's going to kindergarten.  It came so fast!  I love listening to her sing and memorizes words to songs really quick.  She's also good at making up her own words and still plays so well by herself.  Kenya, you light up our lives with your smile, personality, and your adorable little face.  We love you!

Preschool Graduation(s)

I can't believe Kenya has now graduated from preschool, those two years flew by.  She went to two preschools this year and loved them both.  I loved them both too.  Her first graduation was at Miss Brooke's...
The pledge, then her part...

She's been practicing these songs at home for me for a while now.  My favorite song she did was (to the tune of Zippity Doo Da) "Zippity doo da, zippity A, thanks for coming to our program today. We've had lot's of fun and we hope you did too, zippity doo da, zippity A!"  She's doing the actions in these pictures, I just thought it was really cute.

Not a very big class, which was great.

Kiley and Kenya, the had to pose for one too...

A couple days later she had Miss Lisa's graduation.  There are a lot more kids in this preschool which means we were in a crowded room so not many pictures at this one, which could be a good thing. :)

 This was my view...
Chelsa leaned around the corner and got one better one for me...
Leila was pretty good and enjoyed watching the kids.

If you're wondering my pictures are blurry a lot it's because my camera got switched off of auto focus so that's why so many of my pics are blurry, the good news is Jayme showed me which button turns it back on, finally. :)
Kenya and Brighton and Kenya and Cruz.

With the wonderful Miss Lisa and Miss Shawn.

Mark left too quick so I tried to get a pic with her.  The camera was not cooperating and then the girls were way too in to their popsicles to look at the camera.

Last day of preschool.

First day of preschool.

I think it's funny that she's doing almost the exact same stance, she definitely looks taller.

Race Day

It's race time again.  This year I wanted to do some of the races I haven't done before so we started out with the Salt Lake half in April.  I had extremely low expectations for this one, I didn't feel very well trained and wasn't sure how the course was, well surprise, surprise, I finally met my goal of under 2 hours.  1:58:59 to be exact.  I was pretty excited about that.  That is the hardest part of racing for me, I never know how I'm going to feel on race day.  Luckily this day was a good one, besides the last mile, that was torture but it always is!
 Cami, me, and Keri

Last week was the Ogden half.  This is a tough one to get into so I was excited to do it, I've heard good things about it but I was trying not to set my expectations too high so I didn't have to fail. :)  I just wanted to beat my last time.  This run was beautiful, around pineview and down Ogden canyon.  I didn't feel quite as good as Salt Lake but managed to beat my time, a little more down hill helped I think.  1:55.  Katie and I crossed the finish line together holding hands. :)  A girl in my neighborhood, Cynthia Fowler, WON the marathon.  2:47, insane!!!!
What is it about running?  Such a love/hate relationship for me. The last mile of this race was killer too, such a mental game that I am trying to get stronger at.  That is my weekness.

Up next, dirty dash next week, then Hobble Creek in August!
