Leila is Three!

My toddler is gone and my little preschooler is here, I can't hardly believe it, as always.  I love this little one so much.  She is absolutely obsessed with colors, has been for a while.  She's known her colors since before she was two and the obsession keeps growing.  Multiple times a day I'll here from her "I lub kink and blue and red."  Those are the usual favorites but if she's coloring it's whatever crayon she picks up "Brown! I lub brown mom!"  She's also obsessed with M&M's or just "M's" as she calls them so what better than an M&M rainbow #3 cake. :)  She was really excited about it.  Kenya helped me put all the M&M's on and she was thrilled about being able to help. We had a family party the night before her birthday.

She's funny in that she doesn't like a lot of attention on her in some ways.  She liked everybody singing to her but was a little shy about it and just like last year by the time it was time to blow out the candles she clung to dad and wouldn't do it.

I love all their faces in the above pic.  These three are all spitfires in their own way.  They are starting to play a little better we've still got a lot of room for improvement with Leila and Scarlett though.  They struggle.

She loves play-doh.  I love that it entertains her but I get so sick of cleaning it all up and it drives me crazy that the colors all get mixed up.  I have learned to let that go a little though.

Video of "Happy Birthday"

The next morning she woke up to her presents and a few decorations and balloons.  She got the Little People princess castle.  She is also obsessed with princesses.  She loves "I Know you" and Ariel probably the most but she knows every single one of them and loves playing with them and pointing them all out to me.  She still talks about Disneyland and asks to go there all the time.  "Can we go Dinyland today?" I'll say "No, not today" Then she'll usually say "Maybe morrow?"  She asks that a lot lately, I must say that to her but if she asks to do something and I say no or I tell her "maybe tomorrow" then she is fine with it and doesn't throw a fit and usually forgets by tomorrow.  She also got a new scooter that she is loving.  I made the usual breakast, she chose "kink" for the pancakes and now most mornings when I ask her if she wants pancakes its usually followed by "I want kink pancakes!"  Which I don't ever do, "only for birthdays" I have to tell her.

I had a little photo shoot with her outside.  I love these pictures because her personality really shines through in them.  Happy Birthday princess Leila!  Love you to the moon and back.

Fourth of July

We had a fun, busy July 4th.  We woke up and headed to the Centerville parade.  It was hot, the kids got lots of candy, we saw cute Sailor as a Centerville cheerleader.  We left early and went to breakfast with our little fam.

Good ol' Village Inn.

Love this action shot.  Cora flung forward a little.  Look at Kenya!

After breakfast, which was really brunch we headed home, packed up and went to Jared's pool with some of my family.  It was short and sweet, everyone (including us) really needed a nap from being out too late the night before for the Eaglewood fireworks.  We all took naps at 4:00.  It was necessary to make it through another late night!  We debated between our neighborhood gathering and my family gathering at Oakridge, went back and forth a lot, then decided on Oakridge with a quick drive thru to Inn N Out.  Oakridge was a good choice.  The kids got their faces painted, balloons made, bouncy houses and their favorite was riding the golf carts on a little course that was set up.  We stuck around for the fireworks again too.

Leila loved them.  She would tell us every color that exploded in the sky.  Cora was great with them too.  They didn't seem to bother her at all.
It was another great July 4th!  Love this country of ours.
