Green Day

In the past I haven't really done much for St. Patrick's day. In fact last year I completely forgot about it, luckily Charlie happened to wear a green shirt to preschool that day! It dawned on me a couple nights before when Charlie kept talking about Leprechauns that he might have some expectations for the day of green. Really his only expectation was to catch a Leprechaun (this is mainly my fault for buying him a book "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day" where the kids set up traps for the leprechauns) but I told him that if you put out your shoes the leprechauns might leave you a little something. So he did just that, along with setting up some traps for them in the playroom. When he woke up and went outside to look for his shoes they were gone! Those tricky leprechauns stashed them in a different place for him to find, they also put army guys and cars in his traps. He got a kick out of it, sneaky little guys!

Lucky Charms, green gum, 4 quarters, and a candy bar made these two pretty happy.

We had a delicious green breakfast and the kids ate it up. Green pancakes, green eggs, and a green smoothie (the eggs and smoothie were colored with SPINACH and my kids never thought twice about gobbling them up! I love sneaking veggies into my kids food.)

I made green bread for their sandwiches and to wash it down, some green milk.

To top off the evening we went to my nieces Kaia and Harper's birthday bash. The were both born on the same day which happens to be St. Paddy's Day. 8 years old, I can't believe I'm the person saying to them "I remember the day you were born!" These two were 3 months old when Mark and I got married. Crazy, crazy.

We had a fun green day, I think I like St. Patrick's Day, after all green is my favorite color!

I have to say I am very impressed with all your festivities! You really went all out, that's great! We only had green pancakes for breakfast, and I"m lazy and just reached for the green food coloring, way to go with the spinach :)

Wow! Green bread. I'm so impressed! I am thinking Friday would be a good day for the zoo. Monday might be a little crazy since all of Davis County has school off. What do you think?

How fun is this? I forgot about St Paddy's day this year! Bad mom. We did have green pancakes since Hayden reminded me. I guess there's always next year...
