Day To Day

We are anxious for summer to get started around here!  Swimming with Samara and Liam after Samara's baptism.
These two cuties and their poses.

Charlie, oh Charlie.  He was too anxious to wait for me to shave his head, he wanted to do it himself because I didn't have time right. that. second.  So after consistent asking I finally gave in, put the attachment on and said have at it.  Well, he came upstairs looking like he does in the above pictures.  Patches of baldness all over his head.  He apparently decided to take the attachment off, I don't know why, he said it wasn't working with it on and he thought it would make it longer.  So I told him we'd have to shave it pretty much bald all over, no attachment.  He got a good lecture about not listening and all that.  As you can see he's not too happy about it, he got over it fast enough.  Another Charlie live and learn lesson.

My latest Ikea hack, this desk.  Mark needed a desk in his office so he took the one in our office that I wasn't loving for the space.  Of course when we bought it I thought it was going to be perfect, it was from Pottery Barn, it was black, it was big but it was too big I realized over time.  So I bought this for $59 I believe, painted the legs gold and I love it.  I also love that when I change my mind again it won't be a big deal because it was so cheap.  I noticed on the last PB Teen magazine they had a desk that looked very similar to this one for over $800!  Made me even more proud of this little hack. :)

Our bigger project going on is some trim work in our house.  I am excited to see it all done!

Kenya had her end of year dance recital, she was great and really loves performing!

Day To Day

We've been busy this spring, as always.  Soccer games and try-outs, softball games for Kenya, end of year programs and reviews, Mark's softball games, May is always crazy!

The girls needed new bedding, we were borrowing Cami's and she needed it back so I did A LOT of searching and ended up with these.  They already matched the pillows that were on their bed from Kenya's old bedding.  I think they turned out pretty cute.  I don't think their bed will ever look this good again though.  Making bunk beds is the worst and they're in charge of making their own beds.

Cora's been teething and ornery.  She's constantly at my feet and pulling on my legs for me to hold her.  Sometimes I have to have the kids take her upstairs so she can't see me, then she's usually ok but that only lasts for so long too.  Her gums have been swollen for a long time, ready for those teeth to pop through!

Charlie had an opera that his class performed.  He was a cougar.  He did a great job.  I love the independence in this kid.  Teach him to do something and you've made your life a lot easier these days because he's so capable.  It'll serve him well through out his life.  As a toddler it was extremely frustrating but it's starting to pay off. :)

How Cora likes to use this toy.

Gymnastics Review

Kenya's really improved this year in her tumbling.  She moved up a level to intermediate once she got her back handspring at the first of the school year and since has learned a round off whip and an ariel as well as improved in all her other skills.  They had a backhandspring contest, she got second place with 17!  She was pretty upset when she saw the huge trophy the winner got.  I'm secretly glad she didn't win it because it was huge and I wouldn't want to find a place for it. :)

Great job Kenya and Kiley!

Maiden Voyage

We bought a boat!

Not to sound cheesy but this is a dream come true for me.  My favorite memories as a child were probably on our boat and I've wanted my kids to experience some of those same things.  We bought it with two other families, our neighbors the Johnsons and the Andersons and so far it's been working out great. We took it out for the first time with the Johnsons on Memorial Day.  The kids loved it, seeing Leila and Kenya's grin when we started driving the boat away from the marina was priceless.
This is a died down smile.  It was much better than this.

The kids of course love the tube.  We'll get them doing other things soon enough.  Excited to make some great family memories and time with this!

Birthday weekend

Kenya's birthday was over Memorial day weekend and we celebrated all weekend!  On Friday night I needed to get out of the house so around 7:00 on a whim I decided to go to Station Park and take Kenya with me.  We turned it into a little Birthday date.  On the way over there I asked her if she wanted to get her ears pierced, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.  She was nervous about it at first but decided she wanted to do it.  So we stopped at Claire's and got them pierced!

As you can see she was a little nervous, then all smiles, then all tears (which I have on video but no pictures), then all smiles again.  Afterwards we picked out a few pairs of earrings and some accessories and called it good!  I was feeling a little sad thinking about how grown up she seemed.  As we were walking around outside I noticed a few groups of teenagers mingling in groups outside, boys and girls flirting, some being loud and obnoxious, you know teenager behavior. I looked down at my sweet almost 7 year old holding my hand, clutching a red balloon she got from Old Navy and her new stuffed owl and was so grateful she was just turning 7 and not 17.  It reminded me to just treasure every moment.  It goes by so fast.

We went to breakfast with Oma and Cami and her girls Saturday morning where Oma gave her some cute American Girl doll outfits.  Then that afternoon she got to take Kiley and Brighton with her to Discovery Gateway.  They had so much fun there.  She's been wanting to go there a lot lately.  They're at a good age for it where they can just play and play and play.

Since it was Memorial day we let her have Kiley sleep over on her birthday to finish off the celebration.  They had so much fun playing with their American Girl dolls all night and in the morning.  They are such cute friends.
