Healthy Children

I went to an amazing 2 day seminar this weekend with Dr. Humpherys. It was incredibly eye opening and I was filled with knowledge on how to prevent my children from childhood illnesses. Not the cold or the flu (even though I did learn about that too,) but I'm talking about developmental disorders, chronic illnesses like Autism, Asthma, ADHD, Eczema, and so much more. The reason why I am sharing this is because I feel that this should be common knowledge for every parent! He talks about all the things that can impact our children, environment, nutritional, gastrointestinal, biochemical, immunological, cellular communication, prenatal. So many things, things that we can do something about. And the treatments he talks about are all natural! If you're thinking about getting pregnant this stuff is so important and if you have kids this stuff is so important! He offered this seminar free to a lot of his patients and they could bring a guest so my sister Cami brought me. He is continuing to offer it free for anyone who is referred to it for his next course, which means you! I truly believe he is trying to get all this vital information out to parents who want to listen and want answers. Let me know if you are interested in this and I will try to find more details. All I know is that it's in May and it's a 2 day amazing seminar! There is nothing in this for me except that I can go to his seminar again, I just want more people to be informed and not become a statistic, there's something we can do about the dramatic increase in developmental disorders and chronic illnesses. Knowledge is power! :)

Easter Festivities

Our weekend started out with a little Easter egg dying on Friday night with the Sayes. This was Kenya's first official year and she was very into it, a little too into it. :) Saturday morning we had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Kenya was excited to find all the "balls". Charlie couldn't figure out why he couldn't get all the eggs, now we just have a basketfull of candy that is not getting eaten, okay let's be honest, I am the only one eating it! I think next year I'll fill all my eggs with some coins, so much candy! Sunday morning was of course crazy Mark is gone before church so I got to do it all myself. My kids woke up at 6:30 of course so we had plenty of time to do our egg hunt and find our baskets but it's always a rush to get out the door when you're the cook, cleaner, bather, getting dresser, photographer, Easter Bunny, videographer, etc. :) Charlie got Woody from Toy Story and Kenya loves him! It's pretty cute, she didn't want to give him back. She got a Mrs Potato head that she loves too. I attempted to get a picture of them as we were leaving for church, now or never, you know how those turn out! Mark's fam came over after church, then off to my dad's for dinner! Whew! We were tired! Had a fun time though, I love holidays with kids! Even if it is a bit stressful.

Kenya showing off her new clips in her bed head and playing with Woody.

Vail

We are lucky enough to get to go to Vail usually once a year with my family. My mom's boss owns a home right there on the slopes in Vail and if there's a week when it doesn't get rented out my mom will open it up to us and we love it! The house was built in the 60's and hasn't been renovated since so it's very retro with turqouise trim and all but it is big enough to fit us all comfortably. We had a great time swimming and skiing/snowboarding and just hanging out! This was the first official year that Charlie skied so that was fun to see him take it on, he did pretty good, went more straight down the hill but on the second day he graduated to the lift chair, he was pretty excited about that! I finally got to get in some snowboarding this season and it was great. I went with Cami in the afternoon and the boys went in the morning. Gone are the days of snowboarding all day, 2 hours is great for me! It was a lot of fun.

How cute is he?
After the first time down the hill.
Kenya was so content being pulled around in the sled while I was watching and helping Charlie.

The boys got to work at their new iTransact Vail office.

While the girls got to work out with Tracy Anderson. ;)

The toddlers fought over this coveted toy a lot...

While the kids played/watched others play their DS's.
Our little Pirate...at Kenya's last eye appointment he officially said her right eye is crossing so she has to wear a patch 2 hours a day in hopes of making it stronger. We go back in a couple months to see, she might be needing surgery again. =( She of course tries to take it off all the time so we have to tape it on and tape mittens on her hands to slow her down, then keep her in view at all times and keep her entertained so she doesn't think about it and rip it off. Fun.

Up To No Good

If I ever leave the pantry door open this is what happens. She was putting the flour all over her and her doll.

After tasting a marker.

Playing dress ups with cousins Sailor and Kaia, they were having a parade.

Loves to get in and out, in and out of the tub. I think it's time for these two to start taking their baths separate. Kenya sometimes grabs things she shouldn't if you know what I mean. :)

Southern California

After a long drive of sick kids we made it to Southern California! I woke up to Charlie in my room at 1:30 am saying "mom I throwed up in my bed." I couldn't believe he had the stomach bug again, he just had it last week. So I cleaned it up, washed his sheets, and threw a few grocery sacks in the car in case he needed to throw up again. We left at 3 am my kids slept and when they woke up Kenya started throwing up! She threw up 8 or 9 times on the way down and I was the lucky one holding the sack under her chin to catch it all. But she got it all over and done with and they were both fine by the time we got there! We started our trip off with The Wild Animal Park which we loved.

I pointed out to Charlie how the flamingos were standing on one leg with their necks wrapped onto their backs when they were sleeping. I turned around to find him standing like this below, he said "look I'm a flamingo!"

Huntington Beach

We had a great day at Huntington Beach on our second day in California. It was nice weather and the first time our kids had been in the ocean. They were not shy of that freezing water! Kenya ran straight for it and loved it. So did Charlie. we played in the sand, well Mark did with the kids, walked on the pier, and watched a kite flying competition (didn't know there were professional kit fliers out there! They have these routines that they fly their kites to music to. Kind of fun to watch actually. :))

Sea World

We split our Disney days up with a trip to Sea World. It was a beautiful day that day, in the 70's and the park was very empty! We went to the shows and got to feed seals, touch sting rays, look at sharks and manatees and get a birds eye view of San Diego. Another great day.

Touching the sting rays.
The chocolate sees candy sucker entertained Kenya quite well! Quite a few onlookers too!
Nothing like the shamu show! It was great!
Kenya was asleep when we went to the show, she got woken up by the music, I looked through the netting in her stroller to find her laying down with her dancing fingers going. Then a couple minutes later she was poking her head out and watching the show.

Charlie, Stella, Harper, Amy, Jared, Grandpa, and Mark.
After Sea World we went through La Jolla to this beach where a ton of harbor seals were beached and got to see the sunset. Very pretty.
Those are just a few of the seals behind us. We searched for a place to eat after the view of the beach but ran out of time with cranky tired hungry kids. Luckily I had extra sandwiches from lunch, I gave them to my kids, we hopped on the freeway for the drive back to Anaheim and Charlie was literally asleep 1 minute after we got on the freeway, Kenya shortly after.
