Dinosaurs

I use to take my kids places a lot. Museums, swimming, park, fast food playgrounds, Charlie has done a lot in his 6 years. Then I had 3 kids and 2 in school and life got crazier! I don't have as much time on my hands to take them places and I feel kind of bad that Kenya hasn't done as much as Charlie. Today they were out of school so I called my friend Jen and we took the kids to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point, a place we had never been. It was good to have a day out of the house and the kids loved it. Plus we all learned some new things!

Playing in the sand and water. Kenya collected a lot of the dinosaurs and when she was done playing she was eating a snack by me when some other kids started playing with "her" dinosaurs. She was not happy about that and tried to take them away from them. "Those are mine!" So sweet.

All in all a fun day. Leila was pooped sitting in that stroller! She fell asleep in the car for 45 minutes at 3:00 (they all did) then I put her down when we got home just to see if she'd fall back asleep, I had to wake her up right before 7. She went back down at 8. Such a good little babe.

The Leprechauns Came

The leprechauns visited us again this year, Charlie forgot to set his traps the night before so we didn't get to catch any but they left a couple treats and coins in the kids shoes that they left out. We had our green breakfast- green smoothie, green eggs, (both colored with spinach, shhh don't tell.) and green waffles with green sprinkles and kiwi on top.



That night our friends the Nixons invited us over for dinner and some bball watching, (Charlie said it's okay to cheer for BYU as long as they're not playing the Utes. Go Cougs!) Our kids ran wild and then Shea and I went to a fun Relief Society night (formerly enrichment). Fun day, fun night.

Oma

My Oma is here to do some more geneology, we brought her out to our house for dinner tonight and had the fam over. Always good to see her, she is so sweet. When she was leaving she was telling me thank you, then got teary eyed and said "Of all my grandkids I feel the closest to you guys, Lorraine's kids (my mom.)" It touched me, she has pretty much been the grandma in my life. My dad's mom passed when I was 7. Plus we spent a lot of time with her in the summers growing up on our way back from being with my mom in Alaska. Her home has always been a constant in my life, it seriously has barely changed, and I love it because it brings back happy childhood memories that I love to revisit every time I go there. Love you Oma, and Opa too. :)

Leila stated scooting on her tummy, backwards. She backed herself into this corner. Trying a little to get up on those knees, maybe crawling is closer than I thought, maybe I won't put her on her tummy anymore. :)

Cousin Time

My kids are so lucky to have cousins, not only their age but living so close too. I don't think Kenya really knows what a "cousin" is, she just calls them her "friends." They would pick a night with their cousins over a night with us probably any day. I always wanted cousins like that when I was growing up, didn't really have it, I have 1 cousin my age on my dad's side and she lived in California and a couple close to my age on my mom's but they all lived out of state and I still barely know them. I had step cousins, a lot of them, growing up and have some fun memories with them but it's just not quite the same so I'm glad that my kids have their cousins.

Bath time bums...Knox and Kenya. They were blowing bubbles and I couldn't resist taking a pic of their cute little bums. Knox and Emerson got to stay at our house for a night while their parents were in Florida, my kids loved it.

Little Helper.

Kenya is my little helper. When I was gone last weekend Mark said she came and told him "Leila's poopy." He told her he would come change her and Kenya said "I already did." Sure enough there was a HUGE stack of poopy wipes on the ground along with an upside down diaper on the floor. Apparently she tried to do it again later that day too.

She loves to help feed Leila. Sometimes it really is a big help, other times it's just a mess...







She's been telling me lately "I love you and dad and Charlie and Leila, and that's all." Or she'll say "I just wuv my family." She's also been calling Charlie "Chawles" a lot. "Where's Chawles?" or "Chawles come play with me!" The way she says it makes us giggle every time. She is a character for sure.

8 months

Leila turned 8 months this week, still just kissing those cheeks every chance I get. At 8 months she...

Weighs 17 lbs
Goes to bed around 7 and wakes up between 6 and 8
Loves her binky for naps but doesn't usually need it to go to sleep
Still is very easy going but starting to get a little scared of people she doesn't see often
Doesn't roll but loves sitting and playing with toys
getting better on her tummy still not too close to crawling, pushes herself around with her feet on her back.
Started using her pincer grasp, eating puffs, cheerios, more table food.
Has pretty much weened herself from nursing, bittersweet.

After I got back from my girls weekend Leila was not very interested in nursing. :( I got kind of teary eyed one night about it, my baby is moving on. So bottles it is now, it definitely has it's perks though. She has stared eating a lot more table food. I bought a little $10 baby food mill and I'm loving it. Now I can grind up whatever we're eating and give it to her, plus she'll feed herself if it's cut up into small enough pieces. Still so sweet and smiling, loving every minute.

Girls weekend

I got to go away for 2 nights up to Park City with 3 of my good friends, we go way back to junior high! We had so much fun catching up, eating, shopping, getting pedicures, talking into the wee hours of the morning, and trying to sleep in. :) Thanks again girls, so much fun!

You can't tell too well but that trunk was jam packed with our damage.
