Kenya Stories

A couple stories about Kenya lately.  A couple months ago on a Saturday I was getting ready in my bathroom and heard Kenya go outside, she's usually pretty good about playing close so I thought I'd let her go and check on her in a minute.  As I went to go look outside a few minutes later the phone rang, it was my brother Jared who is staying with us right now, he said "Umm, I guess Kenya followed me on her bike over to my house."  He lives about a mile away so you can imagine my shock!  I couldn't believe that she would be so sneaky but at the same time I can totally see how it all played out.  She loves Jared and loves playing at his house with his girls so I can just imagine her seeing him hopping on his bike and her little stealthy ways of sneaking off after him.  He said he would bring her back when he left in a few minutes.  A couple  minutes later she came in the door, I figured he just left sooner than expected, I reprimanded her on what she did and was just glad that she was ok.  Well about 20 minutes after that Jared called and said "Did Kenya make it home ok?"  I said "Yeah, didn't you drop her off?"  "No," he said "My girls said she was scared she was going to get in trouble so I guess she just took off back home."  That little stinker!  A mile there and back all on her own.  Again, just glad she was ok!

A couple weeks after that I was in the basement doing a client, Leila was asleep and Charlie was playing with a friend.  Kenya put a movie on for herself upstairs and when I came up from working I found her asleep on the couch.  This doesn't usually happen but I figured she was just really tired.  I started tidying up the house when I noticed there was an open bottle of childrens benadryl on the counter with a syringe next to it.  That's weird, I thought, I never got that out...wait a minute!  I put two and two together and had to wake Kenya up to see how much medicine she had taken.  After coaxing her for a couple minutes I was pretty positive that she only took a syringe full which was just a teaspoon, then of course she didn't even go back to sleep.  So much for child proof caps, it must not have been on tight.  When I asked her why she took it she said "because I was coughing really bad!"  I don't really give her cough syrup or that kind of medicine if she has a cough so I don't know what inspired her to give it to herself.  Once again, just glad she is okay.
