Lava Hot Springs

Mark and I have been wanting to go to Lava Hot Springs for the last couple of years.  This year we finally just booked a campsite and went one weekend.  We invited a couple of friends and their families with us and had a great last minute little weekend together.

Cora has been such a good baby, it was just one night of camping so I figured we could manage.  It actually went really well.  I just slept in the car with her and she did her usual wake up at 5ish and back to bed.  Such a good little doll.

When we got there we set up camp and went to the pool.  They have a huge Olympic sized pool there with lots of diving boards and platforms to jump off of.  The kids loved it, we spent hours there and they still didn't want to leave.

I knew Charlie would want to jump off the platforms, but I didn't think he'd do the highest one and I didn't know if I felt good about him doing it, the recommended age is 14 but as long as you sign a waiver younger kids can do it.  The next thing I knew Mark and Charlie were going off the highest platform.  Then I had to do it with him too. :)

Back at the campsite we made it easy and cooked our tinfoil dinners that we had premade at home.  We took the kids down to a little park while the guys got dinner cooked.

The next day we decided to float the river, pretty much the only other thing to do in this tiny town.  We rented a HUGE tube and went down a couple times.  There are natural hot springs on the way down throughout the river.  After lunch we found one and the kids jumped in the river and played in it for a while.  Then we pretty much headed home after a quick ice cream stop in the cute little town.

These tubes were perfect for the little ones because the could just hang out in the middle and feel pretty safe.

 The hot spring.

While the kids were in the hot spring Leila was beside herself, didn't want to get in, didn't want to stay out.  I took her over in the shade with me and Cora and eventually she just wrapped herself in her towel and put herself to sleep.

Charlie's ganor off the high dive.

It was a really fun weekend and a sense of accomplishment for us!  Camping with four kids and a success!  Convinced us to do it more often. :)
