Here's my tough boy with his broken arm. We went into the doctor on Thursday hoping to get his hard cast on but Dr. Hess said that the bones were bent up with the way he broke it so he wanted to straighten it out. He said it would hurt but that he would try and numb it and that would hurt. He also said he didn't have to try and straighten it out, since he's young it might heal okay but he would like straighten it out. I told him "he's tough, let's do it." They stuck a big needle in to numb it, Charlie didn't even flinch, just watched him do it. Then they came back after a few minutes, took hold of his arm and pulled it straight. I heard a "crunch" sound, made me shudder, Charlie again didn't even flinch. The doctors were amazed, saying "who is this kid? That almost made me want to cry!"
When we got home it was starting to hurt him so I gave him some loritab. I kept him home from school because I figured it would make him sleepy. Not this kid. Any "sleepy" medicine seems to have the opposite effect on him, daren't. He gets a hard cast on in a couple days and will need that for 4 weeks.
I thought I should do a little update on him too. He is loving Kindergarten and is doing really well in his class. My preschool fears of him not behaving have gone away. His teacher told me sometimes he doesn't know when to stop being "silly" but that's about the only negative thing she has to say about him. Yay! He definitely likes to make people laugh, or likes the attention he gets when he's goofing off so I can understand where she's coming from on that. He's loving Spanish and learning it really well. These days he's a little obsessed with playing football on the playstation. He's learned all about football since, it's crazy how he knows everything now. More than me that's for sure! He'll still take a nap once or twice a week and still rises early in the morning. He'll usually stay in his room until 7 and read so that's nice at least. He is a good kid, I am so proud of the boy he's turning into. We have a 17 year old neighbor boy that does yard work for us once in awhile and Charlie idolizes him. He'll go out and talk to him the whole time he's here! Cooper thinks he's a little stud and Charlie can't stop talking about Cooper this and Cooper that and when I'm this old, how old will Cooper be? It's cute. He is growing up and I want to keep him little and innocent but I just can't. :(

Lola just got her cast off a couple weeks ago. At least he broke it doing something cool. Plus kids look super cute with tiny casts on.
