More Cora shots. How can I not take pictures of this cute little face staring up at me?
Soccer season is in full force. Kenya and Charlie are both playing, Kenya for Farmington and Charlie for Forza. They've had games on the same night which is sort of nice to get it done with in one night but it means Mark and I usually have to divide and conquer. Charlie also has games Saturday morning so at least we get to go to those. They both are loving soccer, Kenya is quite aggressive out there and has scored a few goals. Charlie is too. Mark and I are a little frustrated with the whole "comp" scene. Charlie is good enough to be on a competition soccer team, his coach told him he needs to be playing comp, but guess what, if he plays comp it leaves no time to play any other sports! He's only eight and he loves just about every sport, we're not ready to commit him to soccer and we're not willing to be running around crazy for soccer plus other things, he'd have to choose. So initially we told him he could choose but towards the end of the season we kind of said no to trying out for competition soccer (even though he really wanted to do it, mainly because he had a few friends trying out.) I wish the competition scene could just hold off for a few years, but because most parents put their kids in competition whatever if they're decent at the sport the rec leagues are a little ridiculous because all the good kids are on the comp teams. Can you feel our frustration? We don't know what to do....
Charlie had a great season, scored a lot of goals. Even took the ball as goalie and scored, he was pretty excited about that. His team had a lot of losses at first but ended up winning their last three. Award for most improved team. :)
Kenya did great and loved every minute. She would actually get upset when her coach asked her to take a break so someone else could come in.
Lazy morning with my girls...
Kenya can be a big helper with Cora. She's changed a few diapers. This time Cora peed on her though. :)
Leila is the binky police. If Cora cries she runs and finds a binky for her.
I have her a strict feeding schedule during the day and often have to waker her from sleep. It's hard to wake a sleeping baby, it feels so wrong, especially when they look so cozy. But I am convinced that's why she does so good at night.
We celebrated my Dad's 62nd birthday with a little bbq. I love how all the grandkids were completely surrounding him and helped him blow out his candles.
Leila was watching Kenya get on the bus this day and telling me how "she not go to skoo." She was looking super grown up with her two french braids (a first attempt.) School will be here before I know it for this little one.
Along with all that cuteness comes this beastliness. This tantrum was thrown on our way out the door to soccer. I wanted her to go to the bathroom because she hadn't gone all day and I knew she would need to go when we got there. She did not want to go. I bribed and begged and eventually forced. She was screaming at me at the top of her lungs peeing. Although I was frustrated with her I had to find the humor in it and take a picture. She also has to completely take off her pants and panties and do a spread eagle on the toilet. Otherwise it shoots straight out. For some reason this time it was the shirt too. I'm working on this with her, hopefully she'll figure it out soon because that is annoying, especially at a public restroom. Ewww.
Our kids talked us in to Lagoon season passes this year. We kind of told them last year we would get them this year and they held us to it. We did make Kenya and Charlie pay for half of their pass and luckily they had a good attitude about that.
Kenya is barely tall enough to ride most of the big rides this year. This was her first ride on Colossus. She loved it.
Leila had a blast in kiddie land.
Cora at about 5 weeks.
