Seven Years Old

Dear Charlie,

Seven years ago you came into my life and changed it forever. A change I had waited and wanted my whole life but one I could never truly prepare for. I still feel unprepared as a mother every day but I am grateful to you for your patience with me and my mistakes. You are truly an amazing son Charlie, you have an enthusiasm for life like I've never seen. you want every possible minute that you can out of a day, something that I hope you continue to desire as you grow older. You are a caring big brother, I love how you want your own picture of Leila in your room so you can see her "cute face". You are concerned about other people, a couple weeks ago you came inside from playing with your friends choking back the tears telling me how your friends were being rude to your cousin, I was so proud of you that you stuck up for him. You are a good student and you love school, especially recess. I am so happy that you love spending time with your dad, you made him the sweetest card the other night that said

Dear Dad,
You are my best dad, I love you so much.

I loved that you thought to make this card all by yourself, I loved that when I put a note on your bed for you last week you said "This is the best note ever!" It's the little things that matter Charlie and I hope that as you grow and mature that you will realize this and keep your heart soft and loving. I love you so much bud, thanks for making me a mom.

Love,
Mom

We had a little Utah party for Charlie, he got to have a family party and on Friday night he had his two close buds Hayden and Brock sleep over. He started his day off with one present, a new Utah hat. A flat hat might I add. Now he doesn't have to bend all the bills up to make them flat on his other hats (or my hat in the case of this picture,) and drive Mark crazy. :)

I checked him out of school and took him to lunch to In-N-Out (his choice). He really wanted some shoes at Ross that his friend had but we couldn't find them there. After much wandering (he wasn't about to leave the store empty handed) I convinced him to look for a watch at Kohl's instead. We succeeded and he is now equipped with his own watch, which I love because when he's playing with friends I tell him what time he needs to be home and he is pretty good about doing it.

He loved his cake and I had fun making it. When people started arriving and asking if they could do to help Charlie said "Yeah because she's been working on my birthday all day!"

He got lot's of Pokemon cards (he just bought some and they ALL got left in his pants pocket and put through the wash, I knew the day would soon come when something like this was going to happen but hopefully he learned a lesson.)
A Utah football that was on his list.

A Utah backpack from aunt Kristen that he was really excited about.

New clothes (isn't he thrilled!?) :)

He got these gloves and sweat band from two Utah players- Kenneth Scott and Chaz Walker when he went down to Arizona for a game a couple weeks ago with Mark. He wanted to wear them, but we wanted to preserve them.

His other want- a Polamalu jersey. I've never been a jersey wearing fan, just don't like them but he has been asking me for it ever since I said no when we went school shopping way back when. I gave in and now we get to argue about him wanting to wear it every.single.day.

Maurena- 3ish weeks left, nowhere to go but out on that tiny torso!

"Do I have something in my teeth?"

Colby is always the fun uncle.

Before Charlie went to bed he told me his birthday was "perfect." Makes it all worth it.

Aww, I love when they say "today was the best" or something cute like that.

Cool cake! He's an adorable kid!
